Proper signal strength

Over the last couple of months or so I began to notice that not all my channels were coming in. Some of them said I could only view them via “Signal Saver” technology. I called DirecTV and told them about it. They sent a tech to my house and he told me that the reason it happened is due to a Pin Oak tree. Apparently it had sprouted enough to start causing issues. My satellite signal got to where it was almost non existent.  The tech guy said we could either 1. Cut the tree or 2. Move the dish. We opted to move the dish. He disconnected the old dish and put in a brand new one one further out in the yard away from the tree. The next step will be to have a trench digger person come and dig a trench to then bury the cables. Supposed to be here on the 4Th of August. My question is… when that happens, will a DirecTV tech also be coming along so that he can get the dish mounted and positioned permanently and correctly?  Also, the other day when he was here he went into my settings on my DirecTV receiver and checked all the satellites… I think that’s what they are called.  He started on 101 and then moved on by using the +/- buttons on the screen. Some of the other numbers were pretty low. All the ones on 101 are good except for a couple of 0s. I’ve read that’s normal as in some areas some satellites in the sky are used and others aren’t.  My question is… is he going to be able to get all the different satellites to show close to 100. Right now some say NA and others are around 60. I don’t understand this stuff and I’m disabled. TV is kinda my life! 😀

Thanks for listening 😀

The 99/103 sats carry most of the HD channels and needs to be in the 80s.  Since DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 SD channels the 101 will only have a few MPEG4 HD channels.  Why the tech didn't mount the dish in the first place is unknown.

The reason he didn’t is because when we originally put the order in for him to come out we didn’t know what the issue was. I thought it was an alignment issue. Turns out it was a tree. He put a whole new dish in. I guess he’s waiting to mount it when the trench is dug and the cables are buried. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He did anchor it to the ground so that’s something.

The guy in charge of digging the trench was here yesterday. He acted as though all would be good.
