returning equipment
I went from Satellite to Streaming service and so had to return equipment. They said I would receive a return equipment box and prepaid label. I received a large box with return label and so put inside the HR54-500 and 2 minis. They received the package and sent email confirming HR54-500 was received. I didn't think much of it until today when I got an email stating another return box is coming for the 2 minis! I called DTV and female said don't worry she is making note I returned all equipment and that the minis are recyclable and needn't be returned! I asked her to confirm via an email but she declined. I asked her to find out who received the box yesterday and what happened to the minis and she basically declined, making it clear that was not going to happen.
Is it true the minis are recyclable and don't have to be returned? Why are they sending another box for the minis when they were returned in same box with HR54-500? The female who I spoke with is in DTV Win Back, at least that's what she told me.

Unfortunately, it could. However, since the C61s were returned with the HR54, the DIRECTV restocking/refurbishing facility should be able to trace down the serial numbers of the C61s and mark them as returned. Otherwise, you’d need to go forward with a BBB complaint (if you are charged for the clients).

It depends on what the models of the minis you had were. If they are C31s, C41s, or C41Ws then DIRECTV does not want them back. (Sometimes, they may not even want a C51 back). However, they do still want C61, C61W, and C61K receivers back as they are the current Genie client models.

Well, they are/were C61 and I told that to female at DTV.
Now what am I to expect? Looks like a big problem brewing.

I asked the DTV female agent to have someone investigate it. It should be easy since they received the units yesterday. However, she downplayed it insisting not a problem since they are recyclable. Now I know they are not recyclable thanks to you.

Not a problem @zovuna
Yes, that agent is incorrect. C61s are still returnable.

Starting to wonder if DTV is going back to return kits instead of UPS/FedEx.

The return label was USPS.

Yes, that was DTV return method for years, they send a return kit by FedEx to take to the post office (USPS) until AT&T bought them and changed it to their return method of taking them to a UPS/FedEx stores to scan them in and then they bulk shipped them back to DTV. Then AT&T sold off 30% DTV and the new partner is now running the day to day operations.
