rv receiver connection problems

How do I get my receiver to connect to the satellite?

You run a coaxial cable from the receiver to the LNB. Make sure it’s RG6 and if necessary have a SWM power inserter (1.) if you have a SWM LNB and (2.) If your receiver isn’t model HR54 or H44 because those models power the SWM LNB themselves.

If that’s not the answer you wanted, be more specific about what you mean by ‘connect’ the receiver to the satellite. Also, it would be nice if you provided the receiver model, specific satellite dish and LNB, and what your setup currently is.

Thank you so much for your help. It seems like everytime we move to a different location in our camper it has to have everything reset and I have to call several times to get someone that knows how to handle the rv problems. Right now I have everything hooked up and have reset the receiver several times, refreshed it in my account and unplugged the SWM adapter for 30 seconds, called once and he couldn't help me other than to get a technician to come to my house when I get back to KY, I'm currently in FL. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I also wondered if maybe the little buttons numbered 1-8 might have been pushed by accident and that was the problem. Thank you again!

Any error codes? What dish are you using and what receiver model? Without answers to this I can’t assist further.

Also, what do you mean ‘numbers 1-8’ pushed?

Hi again, error code 771 at this time, had 722 and 721 at one point.

Receiver is a H24-200 the dish Winegard Carryout G2+

The pin switches on the side are numbered 1-8 and the 8 is pushed down.

Hello @lnmyork thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We know it is crucial to get the proper equipment and well-connected for this case please reach Winegard at 866-609-9374, or please  go winegard to clarify any doubt.

If you have additional questions about DIRECTV Satellite service please let us know we'll be happy to help.

Since the Winegard Carryout G2+ does not have SWM, you are not supposed to use a SWM power inserter. If you have it, remove it now as this is not an item for the Winegard dish.

Second, on the H24, go to Menu, Settings & Help, Settings, Satellite, and Repeat Satellite Setup. Press the DASH (-) button and make sure your settings are Round (18-inch) Dish and MULTISWITCH. Then, click ‘Continue.’

If you have issues with signal, make sure the Winegard is turned ON and moving properly. Any symptoms on the Winegard Carryout G2+? Does it stop moving, continually try to look for signal, never look for signal at all, etc?

Also, as a side note, SD/MPEG2 is being phased out and since this is the only thing the Winegard Carryout G2+ can get, it will eventually become useless. Going forward, I suggest you buy a Winegard Trav’ler or DIRECTV SLIMLINE SWM SL3 dish on a tripod or non-penetrating (sled) mount. As these dishes get all HD, they are recommended for receiving DIRECTV.

No problem.

Also, I checked the manual for the Winegard Carryout G2 plus and it appears the dip switches are correct. 1-7 are up and 8 is the only one DOWN.

Here’s the manual for your reference:

You have to select multiswitch first then select the 18" round dish. Anytime the H24 in connected to a SWM system you will have to change it back but since DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 channels that Winegard dish will be obsolete or there are posts that there are only 4 channels on the 101 that are in MPEG4.

Yes, currently 101 carries 4 HD MPEG4 channels (CNNHD, HGTVHD, FNCHD, and MSNBCHD)
