Signal interruption not consistent
I have been getting images pixelated for months. After multiple calls I had a person come out to tell me a tree was blocking my dish. He told me HD is blocked by the tree, however I would get SD with no interruption. I decided I would just watch my SD channels as getting someone to trim the tree was not going to happen any time soon. We had a rainstorm last night and this morning none of my SD channels were working. I was getting the same 771 signal interruption message. Now tonight my HD channels are working. The tree hasn’t moved, so how am I suddenly getting my HD channels again? I think there is something wrong with the wiring or with the dish itself. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Perhaps moisture got into a coax cable connector outside, or the dish LNB itself is defective. You really should have a tech replace and move the new dish to a proper location.

Since DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 SD channels it maybe your time to lose them or not. Why didn't the tech install a new dish that wouldn't be blocked by a tree?

I agree, worth checking connectors, looking for water ingress, or damage to connectors or cable.
I just had an upgrade, found a staple had penetrated the shield. It took quite a few years before this affected things, i.e. over time.

I agree with water causing problems. The technician said he could not see another location that would work because we have multiple large trees on our property. I asked about his ability to put a new dish at ground level and he said it has to be within 20 feet of entry into house. I think it was a hot day and he really was not interested in having to put in the effort especially because he came out at 1 pm.
I plan to call them on Monday and get another technician to come out.

There is a 150' limit on a cable run so it is how much they want to dig IIRC the first 20' is free and a $1 per foot after.
