Sony remote control and directv

I recently got a new Sony 55 inch ah8. I programmed the remote to work with my DIRECTV receiver box. But there are many glitches with the remote such as exiting the guide when it’s on the screen. The remote that Sony gives me does not supply an exit button to take me directly out of the guide page and go straight back to television viewing. I need help with this topic if anyone is out there. If I scroll through the guide a few hours into the day, I have to hit the back button on the remote so many times just to get out of the guide and I find that frustrating

I suggest your Use the directv remote to control the TV & Receiver. USE your SONY tv remote go to settings and turn on Briva sync.

Use the directv remote and go to menu settings and turn on HDMI Control under Video settings.

Then use the directv remote to control your Tv /on&off  and  volume.

receiver menu --settings program remote.

An expensive Sony tv remote can’t be made properly compatible with directv to avoid needing two remotes…ugg

You only NEED the sony TV remote ONCE to turn HDMI CONTROL called (Braviasync)

use your Directv Remote only after that.

You will find that in your sony menu settings --It's allows (HDMI CONTROL)  --GO to your TV settings and turn it on.

if you need help --your NEW sony TV allows you to ask them support questions

Hey goldw1800…not sure I fully understand your comment.Sony walked me thru the steps to make the Sony remote work the the specific directv receiver that’s have. They couldn’t help me to get it to achieve what the EXIT button does on the directv remote.

are you saying from your experience it is possible?

they helped me for an hour and couldn’t not find a one button option to get me out of the guide. Would love to fix it if  possible

@Clifbob

Your TV remote will NEVER work the directv Receiver--period!!!!

Use the Directv remote to control the D*TV receiver and it will allow you to turn the SONY TV  Volume & Turn it on & off  (ONLY)

Again only turn on (HDMI CONTROL) for the TV and your done --Then Program your D*TV REMOTE to control the TV.

Your sony remote will be used to access the GOOGLE TV apps ONLY

Sorry --but that's only way it will work --you have to use 2 remotes --or buy a custom REMOTE:  Amazon.com: Logitech Harmony Touch Universal Remote with Color Touchscreen - Black [Discontinued by Manufacturer]
