SWM splitter not working

When I use my 8 way SWM splitter my connection is not working. I am plugging my cable from satellite into the input of the splitter and my two receiver cables into two of the output terminals on the splitter. But when I disconnect one of the outputs and directly pair it to the satellite cable it works fine. Does this mean that my splitter has gone bad?

What DVR/Receiver model numbers do you have?

What exactly "isn't working"?

If you have a SWM power inserter (power supply), you need to connect it via the splitter's "Power Passing" port so that the dish LNB gets power.

I have the SWM power inserter. That is what I was referring to when I said the cable going to the receiver although I know that’s not exactly what’s going on. The satellite cable is going into opposite end of the cable that is connected to the the SWM inserter at the power to SWM and the other cables going from signal to IRD into the receiver. I have tv when I connect directly from satellite cable into the cables that’s other end is connected to the power to SWM. But when I plug my satellite cable into the splitter input and the other cable into the splitter outputs I have no connection for some reason. Sorry I know this description is somewhat hard to follow.

If you want connect the "To IRD" on the SWM power inserter to the single input port on the SWM splitter, the "To SWM" connects to the coax to the dish.
