Transponder signal readings...Channel 219 FS1 pixelates.

Hi All, I have been having an issue with channel 219 FS1 Fox sports. It tends to pixelate off and on even on clear days. Things I record say all or some didn't record due to no signal. When live watching it gives the option to watch in low rez and that works fine. I checked all transponders. All are mid 90 to 100% signal strength except 26 and 28 are at 72%. could this be part of my issue? Any other thoughts?

101 tps 26 and 28 are spotbeams so don't be concerned about them. All your 99 and 103 signals are too low. You might get them into the OK range (they should be in the 80s) by using the dithering screws, try it.

There are youtube videos showing how to do this properly. I have aligned many dishes. If you correctly find the center of the 101 beam, with most signals being close to 100) and your dish pole is truly vertical. you should get 99/103 readings better then the ones you have, even without the dithering screws.

Thank you all for your help! The dish is on edge of roof. So I cranked up the closest tv to signal meter.. turned the volume up opened the window below me and dithered the dish down a couple cranks and had to go a half turn left and bang.. all signals are 80's and to mid 90's. Signal strength on 101 is now 99% on 119 82% ..99ca is 88% ..99cb 94%...103ca 94% (it was 46%)..and 103cb is 91%. I could hear the beep slow down as I went too far.. so being on my own today I think I did ok without a second party watching. Everything looks good to me. I shall keep an eye on it and at least now I'm ok dithering further if need be. Oh and the LNB screws were loose holding it on as well as the roof mount bolts so tightening everything helped initially as well. The only low signal is the 119 at 82% but if I recall that was about there to start.

you are looking at the sd signals on the 101 satellite. FS1 HD is on 103ca TP19, so you need to look there.

HD programs are on the 99/103 sats and they should be in the 80s + they are on a narrower beam so are lost before the SD beam.

Thank you.. 103ca TP 19 is varying from 0 to 20 over the course of watching it a few moments.

Looks like your dish needs proper alignment.

Thank you.. it just seems odd one channel and TP is acting up all other channels seem ok...With three L&B's could it be just one of them is off or do you adjust all three at one time?

The dish is made to focus all 3 sats on the LNB so once you optimize the 101 then you dither the other 2.  There are videos on youtube if you want to try it yourself, otherwise you call DTV to set up a $99 service call.

You adjust the dish not individual LNBs.

Look at the signal on all the other 103ca transponders, I bet they are all low. There are a few other channels ON THE SAME tp19 but I bet you don't watch those.

Your 103cb and 99 signals are probably low also. Ignore 99s and 103s because they are just local spotbeams and many are probably low or even zero.

Thanks! Yes all 103ca are low between 36 and 75. 103 cb are average from 47-73. Also 99cb average 46-65. Will it screw up my 101 if I adjust the 103ca etc? My 101 are as stated originally 95-100 except 26 and 28 are at 76% this morning. Not sure if it matters but my 99ca are all in the 30 % range. So yes just curious if I'm adjusting these will it throw off my 101 or is 101 a broader range for more leeway?

No, the 101 beam is much stronger than the 99 and 103, which operate on the KA-band. Messing with the dithering screws on the left and right of the dish to further peak 99 and 103 has minimal to no effect on 101, so it is technically irrelevant.

There's a video on my YouTube channel showing how to align and dither the dish.

Excellent. 119º isn't used for the US anymore, so nothing to worry about there.
