Trouble Pairing Remote with Samsung Soundbar
I’ve been trying to pair my Samsung HWJ450ZA Soundbar to the DirecTV remote without Success. The Soundbar is connected to LG 65UQ7070ZUE TV with an Optical cable. I’ve went into the TV menu and adjusted the “Sound” settings to Optical Audio with the Soundbar set to D.IN.
Then I went into the DirecTV “remote control” settings, I followed the prompts (the list showed my model number), I “clicked” model number (HWJ450ZA) and it took me back and prompted me to type in the model number again!
Tried that a few times,… still nothing, then I decided to “click” “I DON’T KNOW MY NUMBER”, and followed the prompts with random codes….still no success.
I reached out to DirecTV tech Support with no success (after rebooting, replugging and promptings…they recommended I contact the manufacturer — sigh!)
Any thoughts on this perplexing problem??? Is it the Optical vs. HDMI? Is it in the settings? Is there a way that I can plug in Manf Code directly??

Well after going back in time "googling" for a solution, I've found a 6 year old response which gave me a 75% solution. I went through the DTV remote programming prompts and inputted/selected my model number.
When prompted, instead of pressing the "Power" button I pressed the "Volume" button instead to see if anything would happen and wouldn't you know it...the soundbar responded!!! But even though soundbar "responds" to up/down/mute commands and turns on with cable box and TV,,, alas, it won't shut down with the TV when I turn it off.

Even though when using the DTV remote the Soundbar doesn't shut down with the TV... it shuts down on its own after a few minutes due to inactivity... for me that's a win-win.
I hope my saga down this rabbit hole helps someone who may have a similar problem.

What is the receiver model and remote control model? Remote control model is found at the top left of the remote and starts with RC

My receiver model number is... Genie Gen 2, Model HR44-700
My DirecTV remote model number is... RC73

The RC7X remotes where never made to turn on/off soundbars or A/V receivers, HDMI-CEC is suppose to do that.
