Universal Remote vs Genie Remote?
Our Genie remote was old and stopped working. We called and Directv sent us a new remote - but it’s a Universal Remote. Will this still work with our system or do I need to return it for a Genie? This is for the main system in our living room that controls all our components.

I have not tried programming the DIRECTV universal remote yet, because when I looked on DIRECTV‘s website about how to program it, it has different programming instructions for their genie remote and the universal remote. The universal remote is a DIRECTV product, it just talks about the genie remote working properly with my genie system better. So I’m wondering if I need to return it and have them send me the genie remote instead.

The remote will work but only in IR. You own the remote DTV will not take it back.
