Using in a second home
We are visiting a vacation place that we will only be at about 4 times a year. It already has a Directv antenna on the roof and cables coming into the house-but no active account there. I already tried taking my main box (HR44-500). Connected it and got error code 775. Looked that up and it's referring to SWim power inserter. After coming back home, I see another box in another room that I think is maybe the 'SWiM'. This is connected to a little Genie (model C41-700) and not my main receiver (HR44-500) . Should I take the SWiM also the next time? Help, can I do this or not?

Maybe. What type of dish is at the second location? It needs to be a Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) dish (just like your home dish). An older dish won't work with your equipment.

Unfortunately, I have no idea! How can I tell? Is there a model number on my dish here at home and maybe one at the other place?
If they are not the same could I buy a portable dish and aim it in the same direction as the one on the roof at the vacation place? What would I buy?
I am sorry I am COMPLETELY not good with this type of stuff and appreciate your help!!

Your dish needs to look like this ....
https://www.solidsignal.com/DIRECTV-SlimLine-3-SWM-LNB-Satellite-Dish-with-Stub-Mount-Kit-SL3T-SWM
The SWM Slimline dish will have only one coax cable coming from the LNB arm. That cable connects to the SWM Power Inserter, and from there to your Genie DVR SAT INPUT. Take a photo of your home dish to compare when you're at the second location and see if they match. Also count the number of coax cables running from the second location's dish. If there's more than one, then it's not a SWM dish.

And note that DirecTV will not install a dish at your second location. That's up to you. You'll find some good YouTube videos that show how to setup and aim a dish, including ....

I am thinking I remember several cables coming from the dish. :( Maybe one that goes to each room they use to have Directv in. It'll be a couple of weeks before I can go back there to check. Can I buy just that front part that points to the dish from eBay and change it out? Or should I just buy a portable antenna like for an RV? Can you direct me? I REALLY appreciate your help!
Could I just buy this from the link you posted and mount it? https://www.solidsignal.com/DIRECTV-SlimLine-3-SWM-LNB-Satellite-Dish-with-Stub-Mount-Kit-SL3T-SWM

Yes, you can buy your own dish and mount it. No need for an expensive portable RV-style dish since it will be used at a house. Heck, if you're in the Seattle area I have a dish I can give you :)
You could probably find a local installer. Many home theater AV companies know how to install satellite equipment.
