Why will my remote not interact with my tv to change channels or delete recorded shows?

Two different TVs in my house are not working properly in this way. If both weren’t responding exactly the same way I would think it was just a faulty tv but since it’s 2 TVs with the same issue I feel like it has to be an issue with the signal from the remotes to the tv
