I got an Emerson tv for Christmas and there is no code for it. From what I have read I need to get a universal learning remote. If I get a univeral learning remote will I be able to use the dvr function and the fast forward and rewind buttons? Thanks.

TV guide does not match The program playing on the TV for Hallmark channel 1366/366. TV guide says Matlock is on but a Christmas movie is playing. The U-Verse app is correctly shows the Christmas movie. Tried booting but did not help.
