DirecTV Now Grandfathered Plans no longer honored?

Whats the point of having a grandfathered plan if they don't honor it anymore?  $100 a month for go big that was supposed to be $35 (yes it says it can change based upon the list price but with no list price you can't fight it).  We all know they have been trying to get rid of the early adopters for a while now and we all know AT&T is the best at getting out of anything.

So what now?  Its just as expensive for this as it is for traditional video service in my area.

Contacting support does nothing.  They don't even know what a grandfathered plan is.

This is in response to a complaint that I sent to the FCC in regards to grandfather plans with DirecTV now which is obviously not the same name anymore. I am removing sensitive information so please don't ask me for email addresses or phone numbers. If you want these please file your own complaint. Please note that I responded by saying she never responded with the information I requested. I asked for the details and the terms of which I signed up under which shows that we were supposed to be getting a discount at rate. She told me on the phone she was not going to find this information that it doesn't apply here. She never followed back up with me after that. I feel like this is just the slap in the face it's not really going to do anything but here we are. They definitely do not care about early adopters and they are doing everything they can to get us away from it. Again I have removed my information along with AT&T's information.

The following is DIRECTV’s response to a notice received from the Federal Communications Commission on behalf of customer regarding a billing concern.

Customer is not satisfied with the recent rate increase as he stated the original advertisement indicated his monthly amount would not change. We explained how the advertisement examples he provided are clear that the monthly amount for the package was a limited time introductory price. His most recent billing total was $89.99; however, it changed due to a price increase and the new rate of $99.99 was auto billed on 11/9/2023.

A price adjustment occurred on 11/5/2023. Notifications of the price adjustment were sent to all consumers beginning in October 2023. The owners of TV channels have increased the fees they charge DIRECTV for the right to broadcast their content. While we try to absorb as much of this increase by making operations more efficient and saving money wherever possible, we need to periodically pass along a percentage of the increased costs to our customers. DIRECTV reserves the right to change and update terms and conditions as needed. Please review www.directv.com/legal/directv-residentialterms-of-service for more information.

New offers for equipment and programming vary and are for a limited time only. Existing customers pay $10.00 for Unlimited Cloud DVR service monthly and there is a one-time charge to obtain the Gemini equipment.

To thank customer for his tenure, we offered the following:

• A 12-month $20.00 discount

• Free unlimited DVR service for one year ($10.00 discount for 12 months)

 • A free Gemini (we would apply a bill adjustment after he orders it online)

customer declined the above offers; therefore, no action was taken. Should customer decide to take advantage of these special deals, he may reach out to (redacted)

Like others here we were a Go Big Early Adopter but the cost now seems excessive.  I don't know if I can post here but I think were going to go with YouTube TV at $73 a month.  If you've made the switch what was your experience?

I did not switch. I also never got a resolution from these people. They promised something and never did it but that's typical. At this point I can't move away but Kudos if you are able to find something that's better.
