I think what is happening is your wifi is dropping I know that when I have lost internet that the light that is usually green blinks red on my stream box this could be what is happening to you so you may want to check your internet connections and your internet speed.
No change/interference in our service when the light changes and we have one of the top internet speeds available so I don’t think that is the problem.
Your DIRECTV STREAM device may be experiencing weak internet connection. We kindly recommend you to follow these basic troubleshooting steps:
1- Check your internet or Wi-Fi connection and test your signal strength by pressing the Home button on your remote. 2- Then go to Settings > Help > Troubleshooting > Run Network Diagnostics. 3- Also, try using an Ethernet cable to connect to your DIRECTV STREAM device instead of Wi-Fi.
Heads up: Check for DIRECTV device software updates, and then restart your home network.

Colors are on the little box that gets the Wi-Fi signal. Usually blue and green are showing. We are using DIRECTV.

Try resetting the box by pushing the red button on the side and see if that take care of the problem with the lights.
