Constantly resetting boxes
We have 3 DirectTV Stream boxes in our house. Over the last 3 (or so) weeks, we’ve had to reset each box close to 4 times a day. Any reason why this might be happening?
We reset by going to the Home menu.

Hello u/Mundelein. Thank you for letting us know about your concern. We can imagine how upsetting it is for you to reset your boxes multiple times during the day. We will work to resolve it as soon as possible. Please let us know the serial numbers of the affected boxes, so we can further investigate.

The actual Direct TV Stream Box. The screen usually goes to the lost Internet page. We then cycle through the on screen menu to get to the reset function. Once we execute the reset function it takes a couple of minutes before returning to being operational.

I assume you are using a Wi-Fi connection. Have you attempted to use an Ethernet connection. Also, have you recently rebooted your modem and router?

Screen switches to no Internet and freezes. You have to reset the boxes. nothing has changed from the time of installation in January 2023. All equipment is brand new. I had ATT U-verse prior and had a similar issue and ATT determined that the Modem /Internet router was bad. that's why a complete new system. yes to using Wi-Fi and haven't used Ethernet cable. If I have to run hard cables throughout my house I will switch from ATT. Don't want to but I'm not running cables throughout my house when i have friends with different providers who use Wi-Fi service with no issues.

Try using an ethernet cable on one of them. Hard to find what the issue is, if you aren't willing to follow the troubleshooting steps. You can also buy a wifi extender for 20 bucks. Put it near one of your boxes then run an ethernet cable from the wifi extender to a box.

Thank you for the recommendation. I have two ATT wifi extenders already in pace. did this at the same time as we switched.

Do those ATT wifi extenders have ethernet ports? Or, are you connecting to them via wifi?

The more complex the home network setup, the harder to troubleshoot - have you connected them directly from your router/modem using ethernet and see how they perform? There are multiple cases when AT&T broadband hasn't updated drivers OR updated drivers at the RGs. Then everything gets messed up - the recommendation is to restart routers, switches, and any WiFi extenders (AirTies 4971) you might have as well. If you have switches make sure they have the latest drivers as well.

The frequency of having to reset all three boxes has increased significantly since December 2022. Prior to this date the streaming service had been reliable. The boxes are about two years old. The ether net cables were removed when I switched to Direct TV Stream about 2 years ago. At this point I don't know if the issue is internet speed or the boxes. I use AT&T for internet service and my maximum download speed is 50 Mbs. AT&T recently laid fiber optic cable in our neighborhood, but has not made it available at this time.
