direct stream remote to control a yamaha stereo receiver

Sometimes when we disconnect everything, some features need to be set again, let's follow these steps to reconnect both devices.

Here’s how:

1. Open DIRECTV STREAM on your TV device.
2. Choose Settings and then System.
3. Select Remote & Devices, then Program Your Remote.
4. Choose the TV manufacturer or sound bar you want to add.
5. Follow the prompts to finish up.

I initially was able to program my Directv stream remote to control my Yamaha receiver as well. I reprogrammed it for another tv at my summer home. When I returned home was not able to get the Yamaha receiver to work with the remote. Weird because it worked before.

Yes, I tried the steps again and was not able to synch the remote with my Yamaha receiver.

DIRECTV STREAM needs a compatible device/remote to get the most out of the service. Let's go here to find out the compatible devices. Our professional recommendation is to contact the manufacturer for additional help.

I am using the Directv stream device. When I first signed up for the service in May I was really impressed with how easy set up was. The remote connected seamlessly to my Yamaha receiver and controlled power and volume. I relocated to my summer address in June, paired the remote with another tv. I returned to my primary address last week and now I can’t pair with my receiver.

Let's rule out some situations, so we can get in the right patch to resolve the issue.
1. Verify the original remote for the Yamaha receiver is working.
2. Verify the DIRECTV STREAM device, has new batteries. (Sometimes the infrared can start failing when the batteries start to run out)
3. Verify by pairing the DIRECTV STREAM remote, to a different device.
