DirecTV Stream box to Stereo

Yesterday, my DirecTV Stream box was installed.   Basically, the HDMI cable was un-plugged from my DirecTV Satellite box and connected to the DirecTV Stream box.   I had previously had the DTV-Sat box connected to my stereo so I expected that there should not be any issues with the DTV-Stream box.   What I am experiencing is sound coming from the left/right and front/back speakers but the main audio (i.e. whomever is speaking on any channel) is almost non-existent.     If I un-plug the HDMI cable from the DTV-Stream Box and plug in my DTV-Sat box, the audio works just fine.    I am using the same HDMI cable that came with the DTV-Sat box .. but may swap out and use the DTV-Stream cable to see if there is any difference.

Try changing the Stream box's Audio Setup to "stereo" instead of "digital". Does that make a difference?

Thank You !!   I found the setup and found it was configured for "Surround"; when I changed it to "Stereo" ... everything worked as needed/expected!

Hi @brsing60, we are happy to help with your DIRECTV Stream audio issue.

Let's try the following steps as basic troubleshooting. If DIRECTV STREAM doesn't play any sound, plays sound out of sync with the video, or has other sounds problems, try these options:

1. Check the volume level and mute settings on your TV and any audio-visual (A/V) receivers you may have.

2. Check audio settings on your device using your remote: Press the Home button, then settings > System > Remote & Devices > Program Your Remote > Advanced Remote Program > Switch Volume Control.

3. Make sure that your optical audio cable or HDMI cable is snugly attached to your device, the TV, and any A/V receivers.

4. Connect your device to a different input to see if you hear sound.

To enable surround sound, check audio settings on your device. Press the Home button on your remote, the Settings > System > Audio Output. The output options are Stereo only or Surround Sound.

Is the DTV-Stream remote capable of controlling other devices (i.e. stereo power on/off)?
