Directv Stream Device and ATT Uverse Gateway
Hi, I'm new to Directv Stream, I currently have Uverse TV where the receiver needs to be plugged directly into the ATT Uverse Gateway. I'm using my own router with passththrough enabled on the ATT gateway. Does the Directv Stream receiver need to be connected directly to the Uverse gateway or can I connect it to my router? Also, firewall is disabled on the ATT Uverse voice/Internet gateway. If I connect the stream receiver directly to the Uverse gateway, is there any security concern - I'm using the firewall on my Netgear XR500 instead. Thanks.

Hi @kwadiakwadia, thanks for reaching us.
The DIRECTV STREAM device can be connected to the gateway or the router through an Ethernet cable or through Wi-Fi connection. The first option is always the best, this way you can enjoy the service with better connection. As for the security concern there is nothing to worry about, this device works like any streaming box. You can find out how to set up your DIRECTV STREAM device and remote.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
