Directv Stream set top box remote compatibility with older Viizio TV

I have an older non smart Vizio TV, model # GV-52L.  The remote does control channel and volume when watching directv stream but does not turn the TV on and off.  (I have to use the Vizio remote.)

Is there a way for the Directv Stream remote to turn my Vizio TV on and off?

I can tell you I have the same issue and I have as of yet to find a solution to this issue other than to change the settings in my tv to shut off after 10 mins of inactivity so that I don't always have to go searching for the remote to the tv.  Sorry to disappoint this is something a lot of people have complained about and it is not just limited to Vizio it is other TV brands as well.

Was Vizio manufactured by a different company back in the day? U should try and find out and if so--use another tv model's code

Thanks for your comments.  To the best of my knowledge Vizio  was always Vizio.  No one heard of them until they were sold by Costco.  Vizio quickly became one of the top selling brands in the country.

In the remote settings, under program your remote--do you have power off devices turned on?

Thanks for your suggestion.  "power off devices" is turned on.  However, when I press the off button on the Directv remote, the Vizio TV does not turn off.  I have to use the Vizio remote to turn off the TV.

And you used the "manual" setup for your tv in the remote settings. Bc with the "manual" selection you can choose the tv--then model number.

Thanks again for trying to help me.  I set up the remote manually and a message on the screen said I'm now able to control power, volume and stations on the remote.  I tried to do but the remote still controls volume and channel selection.  No on/off.  I have a very old Vizio, model GV-52L,  There are probably very few still in use.  It's 1080 picture quality is still excellent.

Suggesting manually programming the remote was a good idea.  Thanks again.
