Directv Streaming app does not work using Roku

I signed up for AT&T Directv streaming. I am using the AT&T router/modem. I have several different Roku devices and none of them works with the Directv app.  I contacted AT&T support and Roku tech support.  AT&T said it is a Roku problem because of the software update, Roku said it’s AT&T app.  All my Rokus are up to date with the latest software according toRoku tech support. AT&T said my Rokus are not compatible although I have the old and newest model. Roku stated all the models, Roku 3941, 4660, TCL Roku TV and Toshiba Fire TV should work with the Directv app.

I had a similiar issue and a similiar response from ATT but when I told them that it worked fine on my Roku tv's during the free trial period and once the trial period was over and I am now paying for the service, it will not work on my roku tv's.  They could not answer why that occurred.

Neither our brand new Roku nor the one that's a couple of years old will pull up the app. Think I'll just return the Roku if they can't service their apps

Brand new Roku opened 2/16/24 - won't open the app. Older stick Roku - won't open the app. I now see this has been a problem for years. Frustrating and disappointing. Will probably return.

I received different answers each time I called tech support.  The last one worked.  They basically told me to log onto my account, change my password and delete the app, then reload it and log on with the new password.  It worked on every tv.  I only had to delete and reload the app on the first tv.  After that, I just logged back in the apps on the other Roku tvs with the new password and it worked with each one of them.  maybe give that a try. hmmm.

Same here. The DTV app works great on my Samsung TV which I can download apps on but sucks with Roku (ULTRA). It might be just one corrupt line of code but I guess it would cost them too much of an expense to undertake that route. have no idea if it is the DTV app or Roku. I have tried everything. If YouTube offered the HISTORY Channel as an add-on I would switch,h but YouTube is not a provider able to offer it. Why I have no idea. So the wife won't let me switch.  

My problem is the garbled voice, the voice going from low to high and visa versa. In other words, something is wrong with the sound on DTV going through ROKU.

I JUST GOT ATT/DIRECT TV. tHEY HAD ME LOAD AN APP ON MY ROKU TV FOR DIRECT TV. THE APP LOADS, gets password but does open...  help please

I'm having the same kind of problem the others have had. I've been in touch with DirecTV a few times with no success. The last time I spoke to a representative for quite a while. I followed her instructions and changed my password, deleted the DirecTV app, loaded the app, changed my password again, all to no avail. Finally, the representative said something to the effect that this was all Roku’s fault so I'd just have to take it up with them. (She was not very cordial about it.) I unsuccessfully tried again today, but then I went online and successfully signed in but couldn't figure out what to do next. I then got out of the website and I haven't been able to sign in again, despite deleting the channel and reloading it. The notice I get says, “Looks like something’s wrong with that account. It might be disconnected. Need help? Contact us at (800) 531-5000 (Code: 0002)” I've seen this page many times now and called the number. They’ve tried to help, but after I'd done all the things I saw described in previous posts I'm back where I started. 

This has been going on for months. Frankly, my wife and I don't watch as much live TV as most people do, which explains why I've put up with the problem for as long as I have. But we have four TV’s and four Roku devices. We’ve been very happy with Roku. 

Today I ordered an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. I'll get it tomorrow. If anyone has any advice for me I'm all ears.

I am a new member of ATT/Directtv. I was also trying to install the app on my Roku TV and getting the same response when I tried to login. The most disappointing part of all this is Directtv has done nothing to resolve this issue with Roku. They are telling us to reach out to Roku. The responsibility should not be us but Directtv development team. Roku/Roku TV's has numerous of popular apps on its platform including competing Internet/Cable service providers and they all run fine. I came from on Service Provider (which I will not name) because att/directtv offered a better deal and better performance, but if this is the type of support I am getting from directtv regarding this matter, it makes me question how I will be treated regarding  future  support issues. Directtv this is one of the reasons I left when you were offering cable dishes and your support services was questionable then.

Same problem.  I called AT&T.  I was using the incorrect user ID.  My user ID was @Gmail.com and I was using.my att.com.  AT&T gave me my correct user ID and it worked.

The app does not work on all 4 of our TVs in our household. We are able to login just fine but once we leave the login page, the entire app freezes. We have done factory resets on all our TVs and uninstalled the app multiple times. The furthest we have gotten on the app is the preview page for shows but it freezes right there. This has to be a known issue by now because there is no reason we are experiencing the same problem on different TVs

I have a direct tv account however when I try to sign in on my Roku tv it wants me to start a free trial even though I have an account

Directv stopped working on my Roku device tonight (did work this afternoon). I can still access Directv stream on my laptop, and other apps work fine on the TV the Roku is plugged into. What could be the problem?

Try deleting the cache and data. Restart the app and try again.

I discovered that my Roku device hadn't automatically updated its software (last update was in December 2024). Once I manually prompted the Roku device to update its software, the Directv app worked again on the TV.
