Error code 80003-001 on Streaming boxes

Right. If those boxes are too old or were not properly deactivated by the prior owners, you cannot activate them. 

If you can I would send those back to the eBay seller because they will not work!  Then I would go through Directv Stream and buy one of their refurbished boxes for $49.99 and it will come with a 1-year warranty.  They are just as good as the brand new ones that Directv sells and then you know it will work correctly or Directv Stream will replace the box for free!  You won't get that with the ones you get from eBay!

Just to confirm, are the boxes from DIRECTV or Samsung?

Connect Osprey to network via Ethernet (ideally straight to provider's modem/router, otherwise it might not see the network) put device into recovery mode:

Please follow the next steps:

1. Red button reset Osprey device.

2. Wait till boot logo shows on TV (or when blue LED lights up) and reboot again with 1-2s.

3. Repeat steps 2-8 times.

Osprey should go into recovery mode, download and install the latest update.

The boxes have the AT&T Logo on them. They are C71KW-400 boxes. So I plugged in the Ethernet to the box and router. Took the HDMI from the back of the box to the TV, because the TV does not have an ethernet port. Reset it twice. Paired the remote and connected the internet. Then it went right back into CHECKING FOR UPDATES and I get the same error message and code, 80003-001. You say repeat steps 2-8. What are those steps?

They aren't going to be able to help you. Ebay boxes are brick b/c they have previous owners and weren't deactivated properly. There are tons of posts about them. Contact those ebay sellers and return them. Then contact Dtv stream and purchase refurbished ones for 49.99 and they come with a 1yr warranty. There won't be any issues with those.

Ludwick577, Tiger 593 and Litzdog911 are correct. This is a complete waste of time. AT&T/Direct TV people did not fix this, in fact they wasted my time. No progress was made and they would say something and comeback 45 to 3 hours later. I will send them back. Got a Roku, set up was easy and it worked first time. Cheaper than a refurbished AT&T box. I may need to get rid of them, AT&T seems like a dishonest company now.

Dtv Stream box is better than the apps. Their box comes with a remote with numbers on it you can use to change channels. The remote also has shortcut buttons for dvr list, guide, previous channel, record, voice search----and ff/rewind is much easier to use----more smooth as well. Box also has google play store for your other apps.
