Limiting number of recoreded shows in a series to keep

I left Xfinity for DirectTV but cannot find out if there is a way to record a series but limit the number of shows to keep. That was possible on Xfinity. If that cannot be done on DirectTV, I will be VERY DISAPPOINTED. That would mean accumulating many recorded shows and being required to delete them manually.  NOT GOOD. Thanks for the help.
