replacing sim card C71KW-400 device
have short in original device. apparently no sim card in replacement. also, no instructions on accessing sim card in original device. how stupid is that? any ideas

There is no SIM card with a DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box. Are you referring to the DIRECTV HS17 receiver or another similar box?

Where did you get the replacement C71K DirecTV Stream box?
Unless you got it directly from DirecTV you might not be able to activate it.
