Setting up Home Network
So when I have more than 2 devices at home streaming Directv Stream I get an error saying too many streams. I’m paying for the 3 simultaneous streams and it looks like at my home network I should have much more than that allowed.
When I do a search I see this:
Connected to your home network
Streaming from your home network? You don’t have to do a thing. Just sign in to the DIRECTV STREAM app from any mobile or TV device connected to your home network.
Not sure if your device is connected to your home network? Check the connection:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Preferences and then Location Settings.
- Check your Home Location. If you see:
-
- Connected, your device is connected to your home network.
- Not connected, your device isn’t connected to your home network
I do not see that option anywhere. Location settings is either ON or OFF. Nothing about HOME location. Not on my Directv Stream device. Not on my iPad or iPhone app. Not on my FireTV or my AppleTV. Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Okey Dokey!
I made a new account…new email address. Signed up for basically the same package…
logged out on my stream device…logged in with the NEW account…Voila!!! Home Network is an option.
This is exactly the setup I need as all our TV’s at home a directv Stream device. Thanks again for all the help.
Seems the long and shot of it is the old accounts cause all kids of headaches. In fact if I ever went to My Subscription on the old account it would just say it could not be displayed and to visit the website for more info. Now it displays my sub info.
Thanks!

It should be on your DIRECTV STREAM box under Settings, Preferences, Location Settings, and there you will see Home Location and show your IP Address that is considered your Home network.
Check this additional article https://www.directv.com/support/stream/article/KM1433086/ in case you need to setup a New Home Location

I’m not seeing those options. For some reason the website isn’t letting me upload my picture I took but those options are not what I see. I’m wondering if it’s cause I have a grandfathered ATT TV account. I never left the Gotta Have it package.

I am using a direct stream device. Those are not the options I am seeing. I would upload the picture showing my options but I have tried on 4 different devices and I cannot upload pictures to this forum today for some reason.

Correct. The 400 from the beta testing. I was told I cannot purchase the “official” new box with my grandfathered account. Spent many hours with many reps who all said I could purchase it and at the end said I cannot because of my account. Could you buy one with your grandfathered account?

I have 200 and 400. Neither show that menu. I’ll probably call customer service when I’m home at the device.
I’m fine using alternate devices to stream as well but my wife likes the similarity of her old cable box…what can I say!

It looks to me like the only difference between the gotta have it and the new go big that starz is not included. Which I never watch anyways. I may just move to a new package if it clears things up.

Yeah…lost that grandfathered pricing when I upgraded to 5g with some slimey fine print. So the prices would be the same.

30 minutes so far working on the phone with a customer service rep. Ridiculous. I’m telling her that after 2 streams I get an error. So says I need to uninstall DirecTV from every device I every installed it on. Nope.
So then I explain that I cannot set a home network. There is no option. So she tells me I need to set the home network. Sheesh.
Just needed to vent.

@CPU_Fix Okay, so why cannot you see the options I posted last night on your DTV Box? that's a problem (which version do you have of the app? I have 29.2.120.19). That's the biggest issue because you should be able to do it by yourself w/o the need of a customer rep; the second thing, they should be able to trigger an update on your home IP address, so that it propagates to all your devices and it's recognized as a home IP. :(

Right. I keep telling them that’s the problem. And they keep telling me to look at the preferences menu and select HOME network. And then I say it’s not there…and we start all over again. One rep wanted me to uninstall DirecTV from the Stream Device!!
I have the same version of the app. Wondering if a Factory Reset of the app would help?

@CPU_Fix I'd try that (factory reset) before uninstalling and reinstalling on every single device! apologies, but this issue, I've never seen before. Maybe the other ACEs have different suggestions.

Correct. It’s not registering as my home network although it should. I would love to know how to make it my home network!
factory resetting now so I’ll keep you up to date.

That’s what I’m using primarily. I have 4 stream devices around the house which should be my home network. My understanding is at Home I should be able to have more than 2 going at once. Unless I need to change my account.
by the way factory reset did nothing.
thanks!
