Trouble with Samsung Tv and connecting
We have a 2022 Samsung smart tv. We are pretty new to DirectTV streaming. We have a new Gemini and remote. About every other day we have to unplug and replug in our tv in order to connect with streaming. Is it a problem with the tv? There is no problem with our internet connection.

Ok, I misunderstood terms. Yes, we have a Gemini box which is connected to the back of the tv and plugged into an electric outlet.
Our router is in the room next door to the tv. Directly connecting the router to the Gemini is not an option.
Sounds like this will be a problem?

Well can you just run a long ethernet cable from the other room? If would be helpful to do---just to troubleshoot and see-----to rule it out as the issue
Also that Samsung--is it a Smart TV? Do you ever use the apps on it ---or do u just use the apps on the Directv Stream box. If you don't use the Tv's smart functions just disable the wifi/internet on it. One issue I used to have with my Samsung is it interfered with my wifi router.

Yes, it is a smart tv. We have used the Prime Video and Netflix apps on it. But, now that we have DirecTV we only use their apps. I’ve just disconnected the Samsung itself from the internet. Fingers crossed, this works!
Running a cable from the next room is definitely not an option.
We are going away for a couple of days so won’t be able to test it for awhile.
in the meantime, thank you very much for all your help and suggestions!

Well if disconnecting the Samsung TVs internet doesn't resolve it try to get a long Ethernet cable to run from your router to the DirecTV Stream box only to see if that would resolve your issue. We have to do everything possible to troubleshoot to find exactly what is wrong. I'm not saying that you have to keep it that way just temporarily run the long Ethernet cable if the Samsung disconnect of Internet doesn't help. Which wifi connection in the DTV Stream box are you using? 2.4 or 5ghz?

Thanks. I don’t know what 2.4 and 5ghz mean. I plugged the Gemini into one of the two HDMI ports on the side of the tv’s back as directed by the instructions that came with the device.

Just turned on tv and had no problem. Maybe disconnecting tv from internet/wifi has fixed the problem. Fingers crossed!
i don’t know how to check settings for DirecTV … there does not seem to be a button on the remote that takes you there.

You can get to network settings---hit the home button on your remote--on the left side scroll down to settings. From settings---system---then network/internet is on top.

Hi nanatries — I am not sure, but I think this is a different issue from what I am trying to fix.
I suggest you try starting a brand new thread/post with your own specific title/subject rather than posting to mine. I think the only thing we may have in common is a Samsung tv. Mine is a 2022.

@nanatries Do you have Dtv Stream or Satellite? Either way---restart your device. You might also change the batteries in the remote

Hi Ludwick577 — I feel silly as I went to home but neglected to look on left side of screen!
my internet connection is deemed “excellent” by DirecTV.
I hope disconnecting the tv itself from the internet is the long-term solution. Even in the short term it is a relief!
Thank you once again. You are a good citizen!
Unless I post again, you can consider my case closed and congratulate yourself for helping a fellow traveler. Best wishes, Capshr

Has nothing to do with the excellent rating. What I'm trying to get at is in the DirecTV box settings network area most routers will broadcast both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSID. My Samsung TV used to interfere with the 5ghz band in the list so what I was going to suggest is using a 2.4 SSID. Here is a picture of my setup on the box for example your Wi-Fi broadcast names would be different of course. If your names don't show which is 5g--look on your modem/router to find out which SSID broadcasts in 5ghz.....and use the other one for your Dtv box
That's really all the suggestions I can give to fix the issue. Good luck.

Hi Ludwick577 — We had a good run for a week. Now almost every time we turn on our tv (Samsung 2022) we have to unplug and plug back in to activate DirecTV. Ugh.
Any ideas?
