WiFi router distance to Gemini

Have had a Gemini Air for about a week. First few days were fine and then it started losing internet connection often.  Roku plugged into same TV has no issues and gives an internet test speed of 250 Mbps.   Chatted with DTV support for about an hour. They are sending a replacement to see if this one is defective, but they said the WiFi router should be less than 10 feet, ideally 8 feet, from the Gemini.  That seems like a very short distance.

Is it really expected that the router needs to be that close?  There’s no easy way for me to do that, unfortunately.

Keeping a close distance between the Gemini Air and your Wi-Fi router would be a game changer, @marchem88. Additional steps to ensure your connection is optimized include making sure the router is elevated off the ground, not covered by thick walls or furniture, and away from devices that may cause interference, such as speakers, phones, microwaves, etc. John, DIRECTV Community Team

Of course closer is better, but given that the Roku right next to the Gemini is showing 250Mbps, shouldn’t I expect the Gemini to have a similar throughput?

It really varies, as signal interference can differ for every device. I’d recommend waiting for the replacement to arrive to see if it resolves the issue. For further troubleshooting assistance, please contact us at DIRECTV Customer Service - Phone Support & Chat John, DIRECTV Community Team
