Local channels stopped working - Denver Colorado

Hello all

Last week, my mom stopped receiving any local channels on her DIRECTV service here in Denver. All local channels show the same screen with a message saying "The standard definition (SD) equipment you have no longer supports this channel. Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx for assistance." We upgraded her to HD service back in 2021 - she has an H24-700 receiver. We reset the receiver and even uplugged it for about an hour - no change. We called the number that shows on the screen and after more than 2 hours on the phone with 3 different people, I finally gave up. Every person I talked to just kept wanting to verify her address and phone number and then saying "You shouldn't be getting that message, you have HD service." Yes, I know that, which is why I'm calling you.

Has anyone run into this issue?

Your mother may be tuning to the SD version of the local channel. Ensure she is tuning to the HD version. This can be found by ensuring that when you highlight on the channel in the Guide, there should be an HD symbol next to the program.

I concur, it sounds like her box is tuning into the SD version.

Verify she is on the correct version with that H24 plugged in by HDMI.

Menu > Settings & Help > Settings > Guide.

Make sure it is set to "Hide SD Duplicates" and not "Hide HD Channels" or "Show All Channels".

Also to be sure, both boxes and dish were replaced by a tech install?

Under the guide settings, the only option shows Hide HD Channels. Sounds like I need to get their customer service people back on the phone.

You have to choose the “Show all Channels” option.

There should be 3 options: Hide HD Channels, Hide SD Duplicates, Show All Channels.

The correct option would be "Hide SD Duplicates", otherwise channels that have a SD And HD version would show twice. You can try switching the option, exiting the menu fully, then go back and change it back. Might refresh the setting to reflect correctly.

Also when you do so, change the channel. Changing the guide settings doesn't guarantee the channel you are on is automatically switched to the correct version.
