ATT is so dumb and I feeling like kiling myself over the torture I have to go through everyday

It all started 3 months back when someone from ATT called me to sell their new Uverse TV offer. It was basically a combo of Uverse TV and internet and I was promised a whole set of channels and 30 days to return it back if I don't like, without any cost. Finally they came on Feb 28, 2019 to install the services and soon I realized the pack I am being offered has just basic channels and no channels which were promised (case of incorrect information). Somehow I managed for few days, however on March 13, I requested to disconnect it and that was where I was informed I had only 14 days to disconnect (case of incomplete information) and thankfully I was able to get it disconnected at last day. Later, I was informed by customer care executive that I have no money to pay and I am good to go.

However it was in next month bill cycle I realized that I have been charged $477 for early termination fees. Soon I called customer care and I was assured this money is system glitch is will be refunded in next billing cycle.


Current Situation - I have been calling ATT for so many days and what I get in return is just assurance that this money will be waived. Today the worst, I got a call from Collection department that I have an outstanding money and I have to pay it. I have called them multiple times, asked them to listen to the read my case, but every time there is a new person and I have to go over my story again and again.


Help required : While searching on internet I landed up on this forum, and realized that there are so many like me who are being harassed daily and there is huge business of money extortion from companies. I personally have spend numerous hours of my life, in the call queue wait, waiting for someone to pick up the call and take off this burden from my chest. But what I get in return is same line that I will reflect in my account tomorrow. I am very depressed and feel like that I am being conned.

My current situation is that I am so fed up of this "reaching out to customer helpline for all queries" game and find no way where I can raise my voice. I have spend so much energy and time on this issue that I am so tired and depressed following up.I have an easy way of paying the amount, but I don't want to do that because I believe in this country, no one has the right to extort money from anyone.


Finally, if someone out there has read my situation and have even bit of information about my questions below, please leave me some information.

1. What do you think I should fight for it or just pay it.

2. If I need to fight, what are legal solution I can go with. Is there a way I can drag ATT to consumer court and ask for justice.

3. What will happen to my credit score if I refuse to pay ATT and keep fighting for my rights.

4. Do you know any lawyer, advocate or organization who can support me in raising my voice.

5. Why is ATT has no solid grievance system via email or support cases. Why is it so easy for them to coerce customer.
