AT&T "rep" made unauthorized changes to my account
I received a call AT WORK from an AT&T rep who said they were adding HBO to my account for free for being a loyal customer. The rep than said thanks for being a customer and then hung up. Later when I got home I found an email stating numerous changes to my account including upgraded Internet and premium channels (including HBO, which was NOT free). I called customer service and said I never authorized any changes and I was told "someone made an incoming call and made the changes to your account". I stated absolutely not and to remove the changes immediately. I was asked a number of questions to verify my account, which would be extremely difficult for someone outside of AT&T to know.. including my account number, my account PIN number, and non-AT&T phone number I associated with the account. I then requested to talk to a supervisor as I was very concerned about someone making changes to my account or some sales rep in the company making fake upgrades to get extra commissions or something. I was transferred to "the fraud department" and spoke with a woman who said she had nothing to do with U-verse or internet.. only mobile services.. She then gave me the number that I originally called. I spent over an hour between holding and trying to get this worked out originally with the first person I spoke to and dont have time for another hour call that results in nothing ("there is nothing a supervisor can do because someone called in requesting the changes").
Right now I feel like unscrupulous sales person might be making authorized changes to bump their commissions or something (similar to what happened at Wells Fargo). Customer service just gave me the run around and doesn't seem to care so now what - file complaint with FCC and BBB?
