AT&T Retention Department Not Honoring Agreement

Back on January 13, 2015 I spoke to Debbie retention department about cancelling service to go to Dish Network. So in order to stay I was offered Uverse 300, HD and 18 mbs of internet speed, with 2 free receivers 2 receivers for $121( the Managers Special) I was told. AT&T representitive ensure i would receive an email confirming the changes. Email never received.

 

On January 21st I called again to ask about the confirmation of the changes and also change from U verse 300 with HD to Uverse 300 Latino which is for the same price. The representive I spoke to did the change and also said she would note to a manager about the confirmation.

 

February 10, 2015 I saw my bill was 214.84 none of what was promise was honored. I called Retention Department Renan the representitive  said he could not honor that price but offer a whole different offer basically downgrading everything . I ask to speak to a manager, but was told manager could only call me til next day.

 

February 11, 2015 AT&T Retention Manager Michael in LA called with a similar offer of downgrading everything for $123. But he could give the original offer from January 2015 because prices have change. I mention to him that the price giving to me was with the changes. Still he answer that he could not honor the price originally giving to me. Why cant I receive what was agreed upon.

Contact your state's equivalent to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission or Texas' Public Utility Commission. Also get legal advice abut small claims court. Another option is a consumer advocate at one or more of the local TV stations. Get it in the news any way you can. Public embarrassment could work. Publicly get a bunch of people screaming at them.    Just some thoughts.

Same thing with me. Nothing but lies and empty promises from a bunch of incompetent employees. My bill just doubled for no reason but when I called and was on the phone for an hour reviving my account number and so forth still no resolution. I'm ready to leave AT&T asap!!

    I did. First I moved my cellular to make certain that my number would 'accidently' get lost in the shuffle. Then I cancelled my home service & DSL. Still fighting the bogus charges I never authorized.

I been a customer with AT&T for over a year with 4 cellular Phones and intetnet +uverse pavkage of 400..
My bill just keeps go up evey month Eventhough i lower my package to 300- and family package but my bill remain arround 150 each month for u verse only...
I call almost every month but i couldn't receive any resolution with retention department...
In addition, they are rude and lack of customers service ethics....

They have promised a supervisor call three times and hung up on me at least 5

With many attemps to resolve the problem, with employees ID # in hand and with ATT telling me that they see the mistake and with dates of calls, times and names of many nothing resolve yet. [Per Guidelines:  Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].. it is insane that a consumer has to go through these to resolve aproblem they are causing. Please help...

Same happened here and VERY disappointed with the customer service and technical service!!! It's either not working or bills gets racked up! DO NOT TRUST ATT with anything they say over the phone! Half the time they do not honor it. Will be posting on social media!

So I get a letter for our small business telling me to call to renew my land,line agrement. 27 minutes and 59 seconds listining to music and finally a human. Nice enough but has not authority to renew at preent prices. Tells me an increase. There's 3 other companies here offering copper wire phone. - Ask for his supervisor at ATT. Really nice guy. Agrees why I'm frustrated. Says he'll hook me up with retention dept. On hold and other 5minutes and then they disconnect me.  If I operated my business like that I woudl not have customers.

 

Wish there was a DIFRECT phone number for retention.

I had a similar experience. After first giving me a credit, and then taking back that credit, and asking if that was okay, I was told a Manager would get Right back to me. After waiting six weeks, No Manager ever called.

After reading all the posts and having gone through something similar I am wondering if someone is trying to sabotage ATT. Hiring people that promise and say anything. ATT land line phone customer for over 40 years sad to see what this business has become. One year ago was convinced ATT Uverse was the best deal for Internet and phone. Promises for no charge for installing and fee per month would be less. HA Ha. It was higher and was charged $99 for installing. After talking to 15 different people and spending 1 to 2 hours on hold while they promised to fix it. I even got an email saying it would be taken off. After 3 months I had to have an operation and returned home to Internet and phone disconnected because I did not pay the $99. I actually broke down and cried and they transferred me to accounts receivable and restored my service and finally took off the $99. Why can't they see what they are doing to their customers. What is wrong with ATT that they cannot see what some of their employees are doing to their business or is it they are told to lie and waste customers time and money. Tomorrow I am going to visit an ATT store and not call because it has been one year and cost has gone up a lot wish me luck. Like I said a customer for over 40 years.

Visited ATT store and my confidence has been restored for ATT. The agent, Ian, think that is his name was my angel. We contacted the Rentention Dept and I did not switch to Charter. All OK today.

They definitely lied about a lot to us too. Almost 2 years ago we signed up for the U400 or U450 services. Suppose to have had everything and a $400 gift card from ATT for the 2 year agreement for $99.00 per month and thats up to 4 rooms. The first month was right, every month since had been $260 plus, almost 2 years later. Still have not received the $400 gift card. We constantly lose internet, media and home phone capabilities. Im so p!$$ed at them, Ive started a coalition to end their contracts in our city. Im in the process of going back to cable. They sure as *** are more stable than Uverse or Directv.

I am not sure why there is a customer loyalty department.  Promises are never kept.  Yet ATT chooses to keep these staff on payroll for some strange reason.
