ATT sends UVerse representative at our door steps to cheat and sign us contracts

Hi,

Back in the Septemeber, there was two At&t representative at my home saying that they will provide internet and TV service for the same internet amount I am paying now. when I asked how he can do that, he says that I am on an older internet plan Internet 12mbs and I am also paying more for the internet. I had AT&T internet connection for three years. He convinced that he can provide internet and TV for the same amount and made me sign a contract.

Fast forward after one month I get a bill for 252$. I tried calling the representative and he doesn't pick the call or reply to my messages.

I called the customer service waited for 45 minutes on phone to get to the supervisor who seems busier than any other person that I know. After 45 minutes of wait and they say that they cannot help me even after providing the At&T representative name and phone number. When I ask them to disconnect the service, they charge me 165 dollars for terminating the contract, since Its past the 30 days limit . The customer service supervisor also tells that I should have been able to see the first month bill in advance, which was never shown on my AT&T account site. My AT&T account website never showed 252$ as my anticipated first-month bill, it always 0.0.

Is this how AT&T gets free money by sending representatives to cheat on customers? I was happy with the internet service that I had with AT&T, you just made me sign a contract to break it after one month to get 165 dollars for free.

I checked with my neighbor and he is also in the same boat. The customer service was not even able to help me even after providing them with all the details.

Door-to-door sales people are NOT AT&T employees but are independent contractors.

You can certainly file a complaint with the BBB.  How was the $252 bill broken down?  What were the charges for?  Was it 2 billing cycles?  All of these answers will be on your bill, whether you receive a hard copy via mail or look at your account online.

Tv & video = 135.96$

Internet =  126.17

Account charges = -9.95

I looked it on my account online. I got a mail notification that my bill was ready exactly after my contract termination grace period is complete.
