billed for plan changes that I never made?

I signed up for AT&T U-verse on 1/07/12. I get my first bill and it says that there have been plan changes that I accepted on 1/14/12 that I never knew a thing about. The changes are supposedly price increases to the plan that I have, but the changes were made by AT&T. How can you charge me for changing a plan when you forced me to do it!!! Has anyone else had this issue???

Ok I have figured out the plan changes now. This bill is hard to understand! They aren't actually changes theyare just the initial options I chose in the first place. Thanks for responding though

How much were the plan change charges?

It comes to a total of $10.17. I understan that this is my first bill and it is prorated for the portion of this month I have been using it for. But are these charges part of my monthly charge or is this a charge for changing a plan in the first place?

Hello Maymay87,

It sounds like you've since resolved your concerns, and I'm very happy to hear it. On the first bill, as you now know, they are called 'Plan Changes' while their really just from when you started the service. These will be prorated charges for days of service used, prior to the beginning of the first billing cycle.

From this point forward, such items would be used for changes that you did make. Getting your first bill and seeing something of the like could be quite the surprise I'm sure, I know when it comes to my financials there has to be consistency and I need expectations.

Please let us know if there are any portions of the bill you have questions about. I personally would be more than happy to assist :).

Have a great weekend!

Actually I am having this same problem. I originally chose the basic internet service. However, my first bill shows that on 03/28 there was a change to the elite plan, which is almost $20 more. Because it is my first bill, there is an extra $40 that I had not expected to be charged. That may not sound like much, but it makes a big difference in my monthly budget. I tried to look at the order confirmation I received to confirm that I originally ordered the basic package, but AT&T conveniently does not show which plan I originally ordered on my order confirmation.

I just received a bill that was a lot less than expected and it says I have a plan change that I did not authorize. How can they do that?

Contact ATT Customer Care on the link in my signature

Send them a private message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your unauthorized plan change problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time (also around on weekends), response may take up to 2 business days.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done.

Include your account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. Good luck 😉
