Bills sent out late in cycle
I have u-verse, internet, phone service. I pay by check each month and am concerned that the bill usually arrives late in the cycle, making it difficult to pay on time. For example, this month the statement issue date is April 01 with a due date of April 23. The bill arrived in the mail April 16. This leaves seven days to get the check written and mailed, for the post office to pick up the mail and get it to its destination, and for at&t to get it logged into their system.
- Yes that's possible if I'm on a hair trigger every day, ready to pounce on your bill the moment it arrives, but not very customer friendly.
- The above timing is not a one time fluke, seems to be every month.
- No other company has trouble getting their bill into customer hands with at least two weeks to get it paid.
- How about getting those bills out sooner?

No, it's not. But they'd rather you use electronic billing and autopay. They'd very much like you to use electronic billing and autopay.

You might want to see if your bank or CU offers electronic bill pay.
I’m a senior but I utilize my bank’s Bill Pay option so I can set up payments regardless if or when I receive a paper bill. I refuse auto-pay because I will not share my bank info but allowing my bank to pay my bills for me takes care of that for me.
Also, MAILING a check is the riskiest way to pay anyone. Think about how many people handle that envelope before the check gets credited. 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫

Status update: I received the bill Apr 16th. The next day, Apr 17th, I wrote the check for the bill, drove to the post office and put it in the drop box. Today I checked the att website and see the payment was posted Apr 20th, 3 days before the due date. So that's the slack if I do everything perfect as soon as possible--3 days.
