First off, take a deep breath.
Let's take this one question at a time:
What do I have and how to use it??????? You've already stated that you have phone (Uvoice) and internet. To common folk like you and me, you won't notice a difference between Uverse and any other phone/internet provider.
I am sure I have a router, but what does that mean?????? With Uverse it's called a Residential Gateway (RG). It's the brains of the operation. No RG=No Service. Others services would call it a modem.
I have Uverse voice and internet. Bingo!
I email and use the internet all the time. Cool...you're 2/3 of the way there.
I talk on the phone as usual. Excellent. Old landline phone service will be referred to as POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service). You don't have that any more. You have VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). Fancy way of saying Uvoice.
What happens if I have no phone service. Same as if your phone went out before. Good to keep a cell phone around.
I know I will not have the internet. As a general rule goes, if your internet goes down, your phone will go down also. If you do have an outage, you can call the CS number 1-800-288-2020 to report it. Another good reason for a cell phone.
Is there a user manual for this system??????? Follow this link. Hopefully it will get you started and answer many of your questions. If you need anymore help, feel free to ask on these boards. We are subscribers just like you and some of us have had Uverse for many years.
