Buried cable
An AT&T U-verse installation on November 4 led to a cable laying across my lawn, over my driveway, over the neighbor's driveway, across the street, to the AT&T box. 4 phone calls later, and I finally get a service call to stay home for an afternoon so it can be buried on January 20. Well, it didn't get buried, but I got a call from a tech that said he came to "check the wire". It's ugly. It is a liability as a trip hazard. It will cause a problem. A fifth call to AT&T ended with customer service telling me they can't find a ticket for the order to bury the cable. What do I do?

We had nothing but problems with u-verse, so allowed them to talk us into Direct TV. The technician just arrived and is stretching a cable across our lawn and says someone will be around in about 15 days to bury the cable. I have found a lot of complaints online about this process - most say it took three to six months. Due to rains, people tripping, difficult to mow, etc. and so on. It will be a nightmare. AT&T has failed again. They have been nothing short of absurdly difficult and do not provide proper service. Now, I will have to contact our attorney at home, as it is a Saturday. I can not tell you how much we regret getting TV from these folks.

Update
Cable is halfway across our property above ground and in direct path of where children waiting for school bus often walk across and which floods with water during heavy rain. Shortly after the technicians left, we received an automated call stating that the cable would be buried on August 13, 2016.
When we agreed to this service we were advised that installation would take up to 8 hours and not 13 days. Legally it is an incomplete installation and a hazard to the community. If we would have been advised up the prospect of having a completed installation in 13 days, we would not have accepted the service. What is even worse is that there are hundreds of complaints all over the net of the installation taking months to be completed

The continuing saga of a simple task turned into an expensive and time consuming problem for everyone involved. The cable left above ground from the semi-installation, which could not be buried until August 13th was marked by the gas company a couple of days after the semi-installation, after being called by AT&T. There was a bad storm, the yard flooded and the markings have disappeared. Consequently, we are now on our fourth phone call trying to advise some joker was has happened. We called the city and they told us to call the gas company again. The gas company said the folks that are suppose to bury it has to call again. We do not know who is burying the cable, so we have been on the phone with AT&T for the last 30 minutes, being transferred from one clueless individual after another. This is the most foolish way to do things. I don't know who you have burying your cable, but they are either horribly overworked or totally incompetent due to a lack of knowledge. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior.
