Can I get the Early Termination Fee Waived

I’m getting pretty tired of channels being dropped left and right. My contract ends on September 16, but I want to see about getting the fee waived to terminate my cable. Customer service is never much help on the phone, and the manager I spoke to today was incredibly rude. I no longer want to deal with the headaches that comes from U-verse cable, and I don’t see why I should pay $180 to cancel cable a little more than a month before my contract ends.

AT&T will not waive an ETF because of dropped channels.

I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I wish they could at least prorate the few. I’m definitely canceling ASAP, because I’m losing way too many channels.

Is this for uverse tv?  If so where do you get $180 from if you have only these 2 months left on your contract?  ETF on uverse tv is $15/month times the number of months remaining in your contract.  So it would only be $180 if you had 12 months left.

I spoke to a Customer Service Manager today and he advised I would have to pay an early termination fee of $180 even though my contract ends in September of this year. If I knew it was prorated, I would have went ahead and canceled my cable today.

As @_xyzzy_  mentioned, if this is for U-verse TV, the ETF is prorated monthly. No idea why the other person told you differently.
