Complaint On Rising Price When In 12 Month Contract
I'm very disappointed that my billing statement Increased for the TV and the phone service. I'm in a 12 month contract for a bundled service. If I cancelled before the 12 months, it would cost me $180. I was told my price would not go up but I was lied too. These price increases are quite hard on people living on a fixed income. Not sure Big Business even considers this when making a decision to increase. ATT has to pass on the cost of their business so I was told. Amazing how ATT treats their customer base. If I bought a vehicle with installments, I know each month what I'm paying until the contract is paid off. Does the cost of vehicles/interest rates go up during my contract? Of course, but any price increase is not passed onto the current customers. There is always 'room' to entice new customers to jump onboard but not very much to retain a loyal customer. Oh sure, I was told the price increase was on the previous month billing. Yes, I saw that but I'm 'locked' in a 12 month contract so why would that affect my monthly amount? No explanation. It just is. Well, I was with Time Warner/Spectrum for 30 years and I can certainly take my business and go to another provider. This is not a good way to do business. Not by a long shot. The price increase goes up $10 this month and then how much the next month and the next? I'm am very disappointed with ATT since their um, 'contracts' only work in their favor, not for the customer. Unless that customer wants to cancel, Oh to be sure, ATT will want that cancellation fee. Beware.

Actually it's prorated at $15/month.
Your promo contract is for $x off the current price. If the current price goes up you still get that same $x off the new current price. These annual price increases are announce in you bill about 60 days prior to taking effect.
Was that $10 you mentioned just an example or did it go up by that much? If so compare the line items from the current bill with a previous bill to see where the increase(s) occurred.
My bill said the price increases would be effective 1/21/18. Here's the amounts:
U-family, U-family All: $2
U100: $3
U200, U200 All, U200 Latino, U200 Latino All: $4
U300, U300 All: U300 Latino, U300 Latino All: $5
U450, U450 All: U450 Latino, U450 Latino All: $8

I feel your pain. I left and went to Spectrum because at the end of my contact my fee went up to 250.00 per month from 172.00 per month and I could not afford it as I too am on a fixed income. You said you came from Spectrum you know that they have been offering to buy out your contract to switch to them. If you were happy with Spectrum I would take them up on the offer. Read your contract with AT&T. Did they say the price is locked in for a year or did they say you would get x amount of dollars off for 12 months. Charter Spectrum gave me a guanteed rate of 162.00 for 2 years with no contract. So far I have gotten more features with Spectrum then AT&T. I wish you luck. I tried for 2 months to see if they would lower my rate. They would not talk to me and when I called they said don't let the door hit you on the way out. I emailed the community managers on this site and they would not even respond to me so I left and will not be back to AT&T.

That adds up.
I didn't know about the VoIP increase since I don't have VoIP and I don't recall the 2-month earlier warning notice mentioning it. I try to remember that the next time this comes up as it's almost certainly to do.
