Equipment charges after a apartment fire

I had an apartment fire early February of this year and lost everything I owned. I called AT&T to let them know this and I was told by several representatives that I would not have to pay for this equipment due to the circumstances. I called from frebruary to the end of April because the charges were still showing up on my bill. When I did get on the phone with someone I was told that I was still responsible for the equipment and I had to pay for it. After finding this out I asked the representative could I make additional 30 dollar payments to pay off the equipment over time I was told yes that I could. Now it is June and AT&T is saying if I don't pay the balance in full my services will be cut off. This is not fair it's not my fault that the representatives don't know their policies and told me the wrong info for months at a time. Now my services will end not because I don't pay my bill on time but because of equipment that I wasn't given a chance to pay for over time due to my circumstances.

Did you include the destroyed AT&T equipment in your insurance claim?  I would think that it would be covered...it was in the apartment and it was part of your loss.
