Final Bill ETF

Hi,

I am turning to this  forum after numerous unsatisfactory interactions with the cistomer service reps on the phone where each and every one of them seem to give me a different answer which doesnt lead anywhere.

I had been a long time (4+ years) Uverse customer till last month when I cancelled my Uverse service. My reason for cancelling service was that AT&T seemed stuck with a top tier internet line of 18Mbps in my community whereas everywhere around me companies like Google Fiber and Time Warner were offering far higher speeds. I have called AT&T multiple times regarding this over the past year only to have customer relations tell me that better service will roll out in the next few months. Finally out of frustration and work demands, I had to cancel and move to a different provider. When I did end my service, I was hit with a ETF of $90. I was never told about the ETF when I signed up. I make it a point of asking about contracts and I was told that there was no contract but my rate is guaranteed only for 12 months after which it may increase. I explained this patiently to the rep who was handling my service cancellation. This, added to the fact that I was cancelling due to unavailability of required service tier, I was told that my ETF will be waived but I will have to wait till the final bill is generated. 3 weeks later, I get the final bill with the ETF. I call back, but no one can coherently tell me anything about this. Twice, the AT&T reps just dropped the call and never called back. Its tiring to have to call someone, wait on hold and explain the same story again and again.

I am hoping I can reach someone through this forum who can help me - I have had success with the great community managers here before. I'd appreciate if someone can respond and help me resolve this.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

A. I was provided a false promise about no contract. Yes, I didnt read the agrrement fine print, but I asked specifically and was told nothing about the contract or ETF.

B. The had 2 motnhs left on my 'contract' but my ETF was $90. From your reply it seems like it should be $30
