Florida homeowners looking for help from other Florida areas that don't have fiber optics

Our neighborhood of some 270 houses was developed in the late 1900s and early 2000s. It has very old copper-wired phone and uverse internet service. No joke -- repair trucks are in our neighborhood daily -- yet we can't seem to get AT&T and uverse to help.  Our Florida senator's office suggested that neighborhoods like ours ban together and try to get fiber optics. We are looking for other neighborhoods who are experiencing similar experience to talk to their Florida legislators. We need to ban together and get Florida on the band wagon for fiber optics, even in rural areas. It is not right that AT&T can dictate that they are are only provider yet won't give us good service!!!!
