How can I connect with a customer service rep in the United States?

There seems to be something lost in communication when I speak with your reps overseas.  I've had 3-4 calls with AT&T reps in other countries and I no longer wish to deal with them.  The one call I had with a rep in the US was a pleasure to speak with.    I want that experience because I'm in need of making a 5th call to TRY and remedy the same original complaint.   Each call lasts around 40 minutes and is quite exhausting.

HELP!

I'm amazed how you can always get help with sales in the US but not help managing the plan.  Years ago I used to resort to telling them I was canceling my plan.  Should have thought of that today.

Need less to say I've spent waaaaay too much time on the phone today and still don't have my problem solved.  Apparently they will call me back in the next hour (OR TWO) to tell me it is resolved.  Not holding my breath waiting for someone over seas to call me back.

BTW - I tried calling my local ATT sales office only to be told they couldn't help me unless I was physically in their office.  "A different protocol"

Funny, the guy on the other side of the world can help me over the phone, but the guy who is 30 miles from my house has to meet me face to face!

Ughhhh.  I don't know how they stay in business!

There are too many data breaches to give your SS number, so I opted for my drivers license number.   Called trying to set up service at another address (we are already a customer) and the agent said with all new accounts we need SS number.  I am an established customer who needs service at a house for my college student.  The overseas agents refuse to help or transfer me to the US as I requested.  Any ideas on getting help?

I am having huge problems with gross incompetence from att technical support and customer care. The help I get from the foreign call centers is harmful and thus far they have sent me 3 moderms when this has not been the issue. It is clear that they are very under trained and not knowledgeable about basic issues regarding ISP. How does one contact an American based call center because this outsourcing is losing you business.

Hahaha. Obviously you are ok with sub-par and dangerous communications and
information transfer to off-shore people.

AT&T (Edited per community guidelines)!!!! It's absurd that we have to call Asia and sit on the phone for an hour trying to translate pigeon English for transactions conducted in America. Really is bewildering. Thankfully the whole Covid 19 pandemic is going to transform business practices in this country. As more people bring in less income, it's time to start cord cutting with these miserable corporations. Who needs Direct TV anyway? For $5 a month you can subscribe for packages individually with the movie channels of your choice. PLUS... NO fees, taxes, service charges and all the other crap they tack on to rob us.

Let's hit AT&T where it hurts, in the wallet! We DO NOT need them! They in turn need us!

I am sick of talking to non USA personnel and that aggravating automated crap!!  It takes and act of congress (and God knows congress is a joke) to get anywhere.  My Internet and phone service has been down more than it has been up since 11/26/2020 and I've spent more time on hold than I've had service since.  Then it's round and round and round getting nowhere because I'm connected to someone and the other side of the planet!!!  US citizens should be able to talk to a US citizen not some alien being!!!

AT&T get it together.  US citizens should be able to talk to a US citizen when contacting AT&T not some heavily accented foreigner with roosters crowing in the background or children running in and out.  US customers are spending hours trying to get problems taken care of.  I've had more internet/phone down time in the last two weeks (going into week 3) than I've had service.  And have spent hours on the cellphone trying to get the situation fixed.  Not happy.........

To all:

If you want to bypass those awful offshore call centers in India and the Philippines, do what "Ktut" said; press "8" for Spanish, and muddle your way through to getting a rep (keep hitting "0", or speak in English to the IVR system). Eventually, you will get someone. Not sure if they are still located in Texas, but it's an actual person that will have an actual vested interest in your issue at hand. Simply start off the conversation with "Hola. Hablamos Ingles?" - the answer will be "yes", and you can take the call from there.

It's an absolute shame that this is what one needs to do, in order to speak to someone with an actual command of the English language. But at least this is something of a workaround.

@AT&T is extremely irresponsible with customer data and personal information. Buyer beware.
Iam so sick to my stomach about this!!
AT&T is broken.
You get locked out of your e-mail due to AT&T kicking the save password mode every two out and the only option is to e-mail a temp password to the e-mail locked 🤬
Calling representatives is a complete waste of time. It appears they have no idea what to say or do to resolve the issue but transfer the caller over and over till the caller gets frustrated and disconnects the call.
They could care less that hackers could be using the time AT&T is saying they need (2days) to repair the issue to pull sensitive info from e-mail to steal identities.
Everyone that I have spoken speaks broken English and are all located in countries such as China and Indonesia. Which I asked the representative to tell me where they were located. I kept asking for someone in the U.S. they said they have no one in customer support in the U.S.
I have recent sensitive information that came in via e-mail and now I am on constant high alert that my identify may be stolen. Again AT&T could care less!!!
Please spread the word!!!
It’s is just awful!
A simple fix of either verifying my husbands info which he is the primary account holder and sending his e-mail a temp password for me could resolve this.
Or sending a code yo his cell phone which they have on their files.
But. NOOOOO BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOR DO THEY CARE!
To the point that one representative thought it was funny that I was so upset!!!!
I wouldn’t wish this on anyone and praying that this gets resolved.
I am seriously contemplating suing AT&T Horrible Service
As a company they have at very least the responsibility to their customers to have solutions for issues they cause.
I have Spectrum for my business and @AT&T Horrible Service for personal
And I have NEVER IN 8 years had a pinch of issues that I have had with @AT&T
PLEASE SHARE!!!
I don’t want anyone to go through this.

Thursday Feb 3 I was locked out of my account to make a long story short 4 days later 15 representatives later no resolve, broken promises to help then end up saying the same thing, i can only send a reset password link to your email. THE SAME EMAIL THAT IS LOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How stupid is that!!!!!!!!

This happened to me with them 2 yrs ago and after countless time on phone i found someone who spoke clear English and actually wanted to help me and reset my password by sending me a link to a phone number.

Now we keep going in circles. I was finally promised by today my husband would get a link to his verified email for my email reset, nothing!  Then after posting my experience on fb a rep reached out again promised to help me several messages back and forth finally told me call yahoo. called yahoo they want to charge me but they said go onto help yahoo online for free I went there, and it then take me to AT&T site again which tells me they can not help me online i have to call the same number ive been calling where i go in circles with people so i can barely understand. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so agree with you, and have experienced the same, it's infuriating. I am considering leaving AT&T because of this problem. I was just on the phone, and the rep asked for my # a total of 8 times, he typed my pin in wrong, and got locked out of the system, and then when I asked to speak with someone who could help unlock it, or a manager.  He replied with "I will get in trouble if you do".

I then had to promise!!! I wouldn't blame him. (1. Are you kidding me!?  2. What kind of company is?  3. How are they punishing their employees?  4. Blink if you need help?)  He responded with "He is in a meeting, so you will need call back in 5 min"... ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Soooo unprofessional! I am still unable to find anyone at AT&T who can speak or understand english, and the most important part...

I have yet to find anyone to help me with my account, or any of the other numerous problems, I am currently experiencing with AT&T.
