i received a call from AT&T saying they could drop my 178.88 monthly bill to 99.99 for 2 years. no change in service but I must pay 300.00 up front. I must call the finance dept to pay and then I will also receive a 100 gift card.

Is this true??

the # they gave me to call is 855 878 5120 ext 1

SCAM!

We've seen a couple of posts involving the same sort of scam but it involved DirecTV and purchasing gift cards but yes, it's a scam....just Google that phone number.

While it's true that AT&T does offer promotional offers, they never require a customer to pay money. Some offers do involve receiving gift cards, but they require you to upgrade service.

You're certainly welcome to call (800) 288-2020 and ask for promotional rates. Simply let them know you're paying too much and are thinking of going to the competition and they'll lower your rates. Don't feel like you have to take the first offer.

Also, use your calendar to remind you when to call back. They will not automatically end free trial offers, nor will they remind you when discounts expire.

I haven't paid full price in years and I've also received years worth of free movie channels.
