Increase in Uverse Bill from previous month

I called UVerse today regarding a change in my bill which increased by approximately $7.00.  i know this doesn't sound like much, but there is no place on the bill or messages online in my account indicating the reason for this increase.  I am supposed to be on set amount that ends November 2016.  After calling - the representative - who was very helpful - told me that the reason for the increase was that AT&T has been absorbing some costs for a while and just cannot do so any longer and need to pass them onto the customers.  Since AT&T is in the COMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS - don't you think that it would be advisable to communicate that to your customers some way.  You sure can communicate when you charge us for a movie so why not let us know about an increase so we don't have to call and ask.  I spend over 650.00 with Uverse, Direct TV and cell phone service each month and do no appreciate not being notified about increases. It almost appears that AT&T hopes people don't notice the increase since they don't want to notify us regarding this.

@lindalbates   If you read the December bill inserts, you would've seen the annual increase coming w/starting on late January billing, through Feburary billing.

If you are on a $$ off contract, still retains the same $$ off the regular price.

Had you read your (Dec.) bill, you would have found this:

I signed up in September for a year, oh, guess a year is only a few months as I got the $7.00 a month increase today (March 2).  It's funny I am expected to honor my one year committment, but AT & T does not have to honor theirs.  Tried to call, but, of course, they are having a high volume of calls and can't take mine.

Big deal.  So it was inserted in paper bills.  I thought AT & T was trying to get us to go to paperless billing?  When we agree to a price for a year, it's for a year, not until AT & T decides to increase the price.

Can look at the PDF bill online and see what they are telling you.  For last 8 years, prices have gone up on Feb billing.

Nope, you're getting $$ off the regular price, ATT is not selling you a price point.  After the increase go online and see the same $$ credit being taken off your account.  It's in the TOS you agreed to, to get service. 😉

Good luck. I was a loyal customer of AT&T for over 42 years. At one time AT&T treated customes with respect and loyality. Because of poor customer service ive moved most of my business away from AT&T. Who really want to argue with a customer representive.

AT&T forgets who's paying the bill.

Absoultly no customer loyality or satisfaction in dealing with AT&T.U-Verse customer service.

My U-Verse representative told me that if i wasnt happy to go elsewhere.

If you resign. You will be confronted with the same heartaches and disappointments a year from now. This is a New AT&T one that dosen't believe in long term relationships or customer loyality.

Look at it as a divorse or a break up. Because they surley don't care.

Good Luck and trust me. Ive been finding so pretty good offers from competition.

I resent the "Had you read". You force us to go paperless which I hate, so I don't have a darn insert to read. Paperless bill is too hard to understand. I'm not good with a computer so it is hard for me to find what I am looking for.  Like taking a paper bill and comparing to previous month bill is so much easier.  You forget there are older people living in this world that are not tech savvy.  You expect us to accept whatever you present us as a bill without question. The current AT&T is not the original AT&T.  The current AT&T makes it very difficult to resolve any and all issues. So without a paper bill in our hands we have no proof to back our issue.

I so agree with you. They seem to want to slip the rate increases by.

@skeeterintexas - Is that what your Dec. bill said?  It appears the increases are not consistent across the board even for the tiers.  Here's what mine said (extracted from the pdf version of my paper bill):

Sorry, didn't notice this was an old thread.  But here's what my Dec. 2018 bill said:

U-verse TV Pricing
Thank you for enjoying U-verse TV. We appreciate your business and are proud to offer
you dependable and reliable service. Due to increased costs of programming, an adjustment
in the price of our programming packages is necessary. New increased rates will be in
effect on 1/20/2019, as indicated below.

- $3 per month - U-family, U-family  All In and U100

- $5 per month - U200, U200  All In, U200 Latino, U200 Latino All In, U300, U300 All In, U300 Latino and U300 Latino All In

- $7 per month - U400, U450, U450 All In, U450 Latino and U450 Latino All In

Additionally, the monthly Broadcast TV Surcharge will increase by $2 per month.

These increases will not apply to customers currently with a U-verse promotional discount
until the promotion ends or expires.

What's strange about this is that last paragraph which is contrary to the standard method of a promo being the amount off whatever the current pricing is.

At any rate, if it February, it must be rate increase time along with the usual complaints.

Note, I like to point out those who complain about this increase and general and specifically the Broadcast TV Surcharge, if you are one of those that also complains "I'm dropping uverse because they no longer carry my channel, put it back or else" when channel re-negotiations time comes around and your channel is removed by the station to extort higher fees from uverse, think about why that Broadcast TV Surcharge increase is always there.

@skeeterintexas - yeah, I only noticed that a little later and edited my post.  Thanks. I don't know how many times I make that mistake of not looking at when a thread originally started when I click on a title in the forum Latest Activity list. Man Frustrated

Just like the first snow fall in winter and the trees in bloom in the spring, we all know that there's a price increase in January and the inquiries will be posted in February....every...single...year......
