Last night during a storm my internet and TV went out....
I call ATT to see if there is an outage last night. My lights had flickered on and off so figured there would probably be an outage.
When I get connected to the first tech person, they have me do a couple of things (basically unplugging the modem and turning it back on). Still I had no service. The girl tells me they need to send someone out to my house to replace my modem. I tell her that I don't think that is the issue. I tell her last time this happened, ATT did something on their end that got my modem up and running again. She seemed clueless so I told her it's ok and not to worry about it.
I then called again hoping to get another rep that was more educated on the technical side and not just reading from a script. The next guy was basically the same except he told me they would FEDX a modem out to me. I'm like DO WHAT?! So he found me an appt today for 4pm - 8.
I still don't believe either as neither seemed educated and both were looking in the manual. Both were overseas.
So today, I play around with modem, router and receivers and got my TV and internet back up and running myself. Everything is fine.
What I do hate is that ATT Techies were telling me my modem needs to be replaced when it did not. I had a gut feeling there was some way to fix my outage issue that neither had knowledge of. Next time it happens, I will piddle around in hopes to fix my issue on my own. I now see how great the ATT tech support is....useless. Anyone can read from a script or the manual...maybe have people that are actually technical people.
