lost uverse pin

Hi, I don't have my uverse/ wireless internet pin. my apartment had a fire last year and i lost a bunch of paperwork. I need someone to retrieve my pin so I can cancel both service asap. my one year contract is up 2/26/16. Please either cancel the accounts for me when my contract is up and do not renew it or retrive my passcode so that I can call customer service again. They will not help me.

Sorry to hear about the fire, hope everyone got out unhurt.

If you are unable to authenticate via the PIN or question/password combo, your best bet is to go into an AT&T store with at least one peice of ID to not only have it changed there, but to set up your service cancelation. Without being able to authenticate, no one over the phone would be able to help you due to security concerns.

You wouldn't want someone to randomly call, and have a ton of services added to your account, or change your mailing address.

I just want to cancel my account. It should not require this much trouble. If I can access my payments online to give at&t money without a pin, I expect to be able to stop service without having to travel to a store. I have my account number, social security and tons of bills. That should be enough.

@windy7782 Security isn't meant to make things easy, security is meant to keep you safe from fraud. Anyone can go and steal your mail, now they have your account number and a ton of bills as well. SSNs are never valid for identification for many, many reasons, some legal, others becuase they are the most common way for someone to get their identification stolen.

The only choice sadly, is unless you can find the PIN or know the answer to the question based authentication, is to bring your ID into an AT&T store, as without those, we have no way of knowing you are who you say you are.

Contact ATT Customer Care on the link in my signature below.

Send them a Private Message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your lost PIN in fire problems.

Include your name, account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. They can do more than any phone rep and stick w/it till it's done. Good luck 😉
