It really depends on when you call. The customer loyalty department can only do what they are authorized to do. It's much easier now given the plethora of streaming service competition that's out there. Can AT&T really charge confiscatory rates when DirectTV Now and Youtube TV, among others, offer most major channels and no monthly equipment charges for $40/month.
My guess: AT&T really doesn't want you to try one of these other services because if you do, they might lose a customer for life....

After checking that and chatting with a rep it seems as though att would rather me switch to spectrum than give me a deal like they would a new customer so I guess I’m calling spectrum

I am going through the same thing. I tried for 3 months to talk to someone about a deal to keep me as a customer to keep my business. They would not budge and cut off communications with me. My bill went from 173.00 per month to 255.00 per month, as a senior I can not afford to stay with AT&T when spectrum is offering the same package I had with AT&T for 167.00 per month for 2 years with no contract. I am changing as I can not pass an offer like that. Maybe after the 2 year period AT&T will realize that retaining customers is one of their biggest assets. Do not get me wrong I will miss some of the features like total home DVR. I wish AT&T the best and maybe we can do business in the future.

Same here they’ve told me there’s nothing they can do just keep checking until a promotion comes available I’m also gonna be calling spectrum it really makes no sense when there’s so much competition out there and you have loyal customers but they are only interested in getting new customers it seems like

Hi Melissa,
Apparently you and Customer Loyalty are not on the same page. CL is telling me nothing is available at this for existing customers. The packages you referenced are for new customers only. I told the rep that I was a long time customer(since 1973) and his reply was "he didn't care if I was one of the company executives". So I sent a email to the executive office in Dallas and the first thing next morning I received a call from the executive assistant to the President regarding this and other issues I was having. Within an hour I had a lower priced bundle and my equipment issue of 3 weeks was taken care of.
I didn't want to do this but the rep ruffled my feathers and I felt that something had to be done about his attitude.

I need help, my bill went from like $110 to almost $200 after my promo ended. I keep calling to try to lower my bill but there’s never anything they can offer me besides cutting off my cable and only keeping on my internet. It’s so crazy how they don’t offer anything to customers that have been with them for years

Keep in mind this has been going on for over a year and that’s why I’m so frustrated with this company

No. ATT doesn't really want to keep customers. I just got my bill and they raised the TV prices by over 40% in one month. The reason is "promotions" expire. Do you want to talk about more promotions that end up expiring so you end up paying even more each time? I do not have time for this baloney. I was content to pay 3x what Sling costs just to keep everything on one bill/provider as a convenience to my time, but now I guess I'll figure out how to cut the cable completely and save a bunch of money. Better use of time doing this once versus trying to figure out promotions over and over as ATT tries to raise my cable bill through this shell game of promotional offers. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

It should be pointed out that if you leave U-verse you probably can't go back, as they aren't selling u-verse anymore. So if you really like u-verse be careful about switching. Spectrum does offer a promo but be aware after the promo ends, your price does go way up and you are in the same boat as you are right now.

bill4002 is correct.
If you're switching, consider why. After promos end, prices are very similar. You can always call for lower rates. Be aware that it is up to you to call back before your discounts expire. AT&T will not remind you.
If you do drop U-Verse, you cannot go back. Their newest service is called AT&T TV. It has a two-year contract (prices higher in second year) and includes a receiver that you don't need to use, but comes with access to thousands of apps.
It's my understanding that the DVR isn't as good as the U-Verse DVR, but it's also cloud-based.
With that said, this is an old thread. Please don't bump old threads.
