POOR/Scam -NOT SOLVED!!!! ****UPDATED REMOVE GREEN MARK IT FAKE AS SOLVED - 7/19/19 ****
I can't believe the customer service is this poor. I don't really watch TV. So, I had a Basic TV service (only local channels) with Internet bundle several years ago and set up with the auto monthly payment. I got an email today saying my TV service fee will go up and charge +$23 more next month. So, I had to look up my account on ATT Website. I was shocked there is so little or no resources/information to compare different service plans/prices. Anything online services are unavailable or blocked for the user -couldn't change plan through online. I had to call three times t customer service and tried to live chat - they wasted my time. No one speaks English sufficient enough answering my simple question, even and couldn't understand my questions. If followed, couldn't answer my simple questions (each plan and its price)... Such POOR customer service!!! WOW!!! Remarkably, when my Basic TV service turned to U300 multiple channels by itself, WHEN? I have been paying this money??? Is this Scam?
As of 7/19/19, my TV channels only available as Basic, only local channels, BUT, my current monthly statements show as U300 - multiple channels HBO, etc.!!!! No doubt it is a scam! -Dangerous! It is a black hole. You can't change your plan or cancel. It is a scam, stealing your money sneakily. - watch out if your payment is auto-recurrent payment - They will/may change them by themselves
I looked up their ATT community forum today to post my concerns, after their customer service's failing services! Shocked, It was not only my story. Many people complained just like their stealing money like my case!

Overcharged. I/We do NOT watch TV - only local channels occasionally - This is a SCAM. As of 7/18/19, I still see my TV channel consisted of Basic (only local channels), and my monthly bill statement indicates as "U300" -multiple channels? WOW. AT&T, I will not accept this!!!!! FIX RIGHT AWAY!!! I need retro-refund as well!!! for months!!!!
People stay away from ATT!!!! Not only incompetent but also scam, no ethics!

This is the very reason I am NOT a fan of auto-pay. Giving your bank info to a third party is risky at best.
That being said, let me address your other concerns:
1. U300 does not include HBO
2. You cannot DOWNGRADE your package without interacting with a CS agent. They will try to talk you out of it by offering discounts. You have to be adamant about what you want.
3. You will have a better chance of getting someone stateside if you call during regular business hours. Be prepared to hang up and try again.
4. HERE is a link that compares the current TV packages. The prices listed is for new customers but you can, at least, compare content.

YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE ABOUT YOUR POOR AND INCOMPETENT REPS, THEY EVEN COULDN'T ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTIONS, EACH PLAN AND ITS PRICE
ATT, YOU changed my TV Plan from BASIC to U300 without my knowledge WHILE MY MONTHLY AUTO RECUR PAYMENT. when I tried to change TV service plan on my smart TV as its instruction, it says, "Unable to switch your plan because you have a BASIC PLAN." BUT YOU BILL ME AS "U300." I HAVE BEEN receiving A BASIC SERVICE but I have been paying "U300!!!!!!!!!"
Your answer did not respond to my concerns at all - Apparently, you are not a customer care service, care for your own ATT dishonest business UNBELIEVABLE

AUTO-PAYMENT HAS BEEN NO ISSUES IN MY 48 YO'S EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER SERVICES. EVEN THEY HAVE GIVEN ME DISCOUNTS OR BENEFITS. YOU ARE CERTAINLY NOT IN A GOLDEN RULE BUT DISHONESTY AND LOWEST QUALITY SERVICE ON THE PLANET

A. You have made numerous posts about the same issue. I get it....you're upset and want to vent but that is frowned upon.
B. These a "peer-to-peer" forums and we are customers just like you. AT&T does not monitor these boards. Unfortunately, you'll have to call the regular CS number 1-800-288-2020 if you are not happy with the advice given here.
C. Perhaps the correct solution would be to cancel your service and move on to another.

1. Send all my past achieved bill statement
2. Cancel paperless bill statement and Send a paper bill
3. Switch the TV Uverse U300 to a BASIC/ OR CANCEL right away CALL ME FOR THIS
Is this a way you to make money making people call MULTIPLE to the outside of USA REPS, repeat and repeat with incompetent reps, charging all phone calls times

As I tried to cancel my U300 service through phone calls. They refuse to cancel my service either the reps (Outside US) says she is very limited roles/functions or/and unable to transfer to another rep who can do - I just laugh
When I asked to speak a manager. There are no supervisors or managers who do oversee - no quality assurance
It has certainly negative influence on the community with the lowest quality service.
- Ask you, ATT how I can cancel the service in a normal way?
- Tell me how I can cancel my U300 service in a normal way, not talking these reps outside/inside the USA. (they should not take any calls, they are a human answering machine with no functions/roles/unable to carry out)
- Do you have actual enough ATT Staff do their work for customer service such as canceling and change service?
- Why ATT has dysfunctional customer service?
- Why ATT makes many people feel very unpleasant and you are a scam?
- What do you ATT THINK can change your customer service better?
- Do you have enough staff who work for customer's needs?

Call the 800 number again but this time specify "retentions" or "cancel" as you navigate down the phone tree. Eventually you will reach a human (in my experience in the US) in that department. Verify you reached the retentions department and discuss your problem with them, i.e., how you went from basic to u300, and what, if anything can be done about it. If you are not happy, your already connected to the right department, so cancel.
You are not going to get any satisfaction here. You keep referring to "you" like you are talking to att representatives. But unless stated otherwise, none of us can do a thing about it. As repeatedly stated, this is a public forum and we are simply att customers trying to offer suggestions or sympathy.
