Price increases

I've been a customer for several years and disappointed with the price increases. I am not in a contract and AT&T only focuses on new customer deals. I called several times and each rep seems to offer a different price and a different story. What happened to the customer service and the focus on making sure current customers don't cancel. I wasn't planning to cancel but I cannot justify paying more and the inconsistency with pricing and lack of customer service. Any advice on what else I can do?

Contact the ATT "retentions" department (say "retentions" to the phone tree or others say "cancel", but I always use "retentions").  They may offer you some kind of deal that you can live with.  It's worked for me over the years (one per year for year promos) but you never know until you try.  Maybe try try again until you get a "friendly" retentions agent.  I've always found them friendly and in the US so you can actually understand them and they you!
