Ran The U-Verse Cable But Won't Offer Service

AT&T ran the U-Verse cable past my house a year and a half ago and yet they still deny the service saying it is unavaible. Why would AT&T spend the money to run the cable to add new customers, but then deny the service. It makes it seem like they just dont wan't me as a customer because it took them a 2 months to run the cable like 5 miles outside the town and then a year and a half later they still cant offer the service. Sounds like they just want my neighbors and I to pay outrages bills for running over the data. And then the AT&T rep asks why we didnt connect it to WiFi and I have to inform them that AT&T isn't allowing me to have Internet service through them.

For you a solution could be this:

No that isn't a solution. That is just like an AT&T hotspot box which we have tried before but it didn't work because there is a small data cap

How do you know that the cable ran was for U-verse? AT&T runs quite a lot of cable for other reasons. Did you talk to them?

Do you see any large AT&T boxes in your neighborhood on the side of the road?

Have you tried to just order AT&T DSL? U-verse might not be available, but AT&T DSL might be.

Click here and enter your address http://www.att.com/u-verse/shop/customize.jsp#vucbbb

If it doesn't say U-verse is available, there should be a link at the bottom to order DSL.

It should say "Check out other great ways AT&T can connect you!" and click on the button for DSL.

Yes I went up to one of them and said what is the cable being ran for and he said U-verse. And yes there is a "Large AT&T box" on the side of the road. And yes I have tried entering my address and it says not available and then when I try the dsl it says to contact customer service and so when I do that they say that is unavailable also.

Do you have a picture of this AT&T box? U-verse typically has a few boxes close together.

Sometimes cables can be ran to the neighborhood, but it may take years until the actual U-verse box is put into service.

If i would make you feel better i can take a picture of the box if you want. I watched them run the cable and they said it was for AT&T U-Verse. If i was going to lie about it i wouldnt be posting on the forum to try and fix the problem. Also it shouldn't take AT&T more than a year and a half after they ran the cable to offer the service, unless they just don't want more customers to make more money.

Maybe you should send a private note and see if the actuall AT&T employees on here can find out more for you.  The ACE members aren't employees, just forum members that have been on these forums for a long time.  They wouldn't/shouldn't have access to private AT&T internal operations.
