Rate Up Another $30
Just talked to Uverse's retention dept. They're raising my monthly bill another $30 a month. Last year they raised it $30 and I had to downgrade my service. This year it's another $30 more for the lower service and the rep said there's nothing he can do but say sorry to see you go. If you don't want to go to Direct TV, they don't care if you leave.
So for the last 2 years they're raising their rates 21% a year. Just incredible!! Been a Ma Bell customer since the 50's. Comcast here we come.

If you sign up for a plan they always give you a special price. Who in their right mind is going to pay an extra $60-80 the next year. That's why they have a retention dept that netotiates a price and keep the customer. Only people not willing to spend some time and make a call pay "List Price." Upon initially signing up and most years after the agent tells you call again in a year to work on a better price. This is the first year Uverse won't negotiate a price making it a severe price increase regardless what you call it.
Last year during my "committment" They raised my rate. If I leave, I get a penalty, they raise the price I committed to and too bad. Guess those contracts only work one way in favor of ATT.
I hope ATT/Uverse looses lots of customers with this. We can see some of the commercials talking about the skyrocketing Cable Rates giving long time customers good reason to leave and go somewhere else. In addition, service stinks. 42 outages this year, 43 last. Took away Weather on Demand. Favorites lookup is broken with their major upgrade. More reasons to leave.

I'm sure if you bought a car advertised "year end special", the next car you'd just pay list price and be happy about it. Of course not. You'd go somewhere else that wants you business!!

One last point.
Remember recently the Yahoo 1Billion account hacking all the way back to 2013 and they never told us about it until this Sept and this Dec. Those are also ATT accounts attached to Yahoo. ATT took away the ability to see if someone connected to your account. Can still see it on raw Yahoo accounts. More great service and increased rates for the wonderful secure system they offer.

Too bad AT&T dug their heels in and refused to keep me somwhere in the ballpark as what I've been paying. They're trying to push everyone to Direct TV but I don't want a dish on my house.
I'm now a Comcast customer for the next 2 years with more channels and less than I was paying in 2016. Instead of getting my monthly payment, they're getting nothing but their equpment back that went out over 40 times last year. I also won't have to deal with the Favorites problem myself and others reported and AT&T won't even admit exists.
Sad, I was a AT&T customer since the 50's. Even still have all AT&T phones.
